Is it haram to wear shorts at home

Many Muslim boys and girls wear shorts at home and ather place. Sometimes it is haram and sometimes it is halal. So you need to know when to wear shorts and when not to.

Is it haram to wear shorts at home?

No, it is haram to wear shorts at home. Because wearing shorts is not forbidden in Islam. However, a group of scholars said that it is not permissible to wear shorts. Because it shows some part of the thigh. The part of the thigh falls between the seventeen dhakas. So wearing shorts is a sin.

Ideally, those who wear shorts should wear them at least up to the knees. Then there is no problem. Again, Imam Bukhari (ra) did not see the thighs as satar dhaka. Since there is no clear proof about it, I would say that wearing shorts is not haram. To say haram requires clear evidence. So it is not haram.

Shorts the clothing of infidels?

shorts Gentiles had clothing but now they do not have special clothing. Therefore it will be impermissible for a person who wears this garment for the purpose of foreign imitation. But if they do not intend to imitate it, then wearing this garment does not constitute the sin of wearing foreign clothing, but still for some reason it is included in illegal clothing. For example-

  1. Below the ankle.
  2. Skin tight means being so tight that the shape of the satar emerges on the fabric. Yes, it is not permissible to wear pant-shirt if it is free from the above defects and is not intended to imitate aliens. However, it is makruh to wear it and it is recommended to use it. (Darse Tirmidhi 5/332; Islahi Khutbat 5/278, Fatawa Nizamiya 1/423; Kefayatul Mufti 9/168; Ahsanul Fatawa 8/64)

Islamic rules about clothing

Due to lack of this knowledge, many cannot adopt the right attire. In this context, there are certain principles and characteristics that apply to both men and women. There are also some unique things. First, I mention some general principles.

cover seventeen

Clothing should be such that completely covers the stomach. For men from the navel to below the knees and for women the entire body is seventy. The main purpose of clothing is to cover the seventies. Allah Ta’ala says, ‘O Bani Adam! We have sent down for you garments that cover your private parts and give you beauty.’ (Surah A’raf 26)

So a garment that fails to fulfill this purpose is not a garment in the eyes of Shariat. It is impermissible clothing. It is important to avoid it and adopt clothes that fully cover the satar. Like wearing half pants for men. Women wear clothing that exposes their backs.

Not too thin or tight

A garment that shows the satar even after wearing it or the shape of the satar emerges on top of the garment is also included in the impermissible clothing because it does not cover the satar. It is forbidden to wear such clothes.

Not to dress the Gentiles

It is not permissible to dress in imitation of the pagans. Such as the robes of the Judeo-Christian priests. The dhoti-lengi of the Hindus, the red shawl of the shrine worshipers, and the full black dress of the Shias, etc. It is mentioned in the Hadith Sharif, “Surely this is the clothing of the disbelievers.” Do not wear it.’ (Sahih Muslim 6/144; Mustadarak Hakeem 4/190)

Another hadith states, ‘Whoever wears their clothes is not of my group. (Tabarani Awasat 3921; Fathul Bari 10/284)

Not wearing clothes that create arrogance

It is forbidden to wear such clothes, which the Shari’ah has established as signs of the arrogant and forbids them to wear. Like using silk cloth for men.

Abu Musa Ash’ari RA. Narrated by: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Silk and gold have been forbidden for the men of my Ummah. And they have been made halal for women. (Jamee Tirmidhi 1/302 Hadith 279) Similarly wearing clothes below the ankles.

On the authority of Abu Juray, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, Avoid wearing clothes below the ankles. Because it happens out of pride. And Allah does not love the arrogant. (Sunan Abu Dawud 2/564 Hadith 275; Musnad Ahmad 5/63 Hadith 2419)

Not dressing for fame

Choosing clothes with the aim of gaining popularity among people, choosing different and glittering clothes so that he gets popularity in the society. In a word, it is not permissible to adopt clothes with the intention of being discussed and famous among people. There is a severe threat in this regard in Hadith Sharif.

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Whoever wears the clothes of fame in this world, Allah will wear the clothes of disgrace on the Day of Resurrection.” Then he will be burnt. (Sunan Abu Dawud 4029; Attarghib 3/112)
