Is it Haram to cremate a cat

A cat is a cute animal. Mammals and tame pets. What to do if the cat died? Can he be cremated? Is it haram to cremate a cat? This is a question many people ask.

Because many people around us love cats. Many people keep cats. There are many stories of love for cats in our society and in the pages of history.

Rasulullah (SAW) himself loved cats. It is narrated that when he performed ablution, he used to make the cat drink water from the ablution pot. Rasulullah (SAW) said, ‘Cats are not impure. They roam around you. Ayesha (R.A.) said, “I saw the Prophet (S.A.W.) performing ablution with the leftover water of a cat.” (Abu Dawud, Hadith No. 76)

Is it Haram to cremate a cat?

Yes, it is haram to cremate a cat. Because we have been commanded to behave tolerantly towards every animal from the hadith. So we keep cats in our homes, caress them, feed them and treat them with affection.

But if the cat dies, instead of cremating the cat, you can dig a hole and bury the cat. It would be better than throwing the cat around. Because if the cat is thrown in any place, then its rotten stench will spread. It will hurt people.

So if you bury the cat it is better but you can’t cremate the cat even after it is dead. And like any scholar, a cat cannot be burned alive. Similarly, no cat can be buried alive.

Animal cremation rules in Islam

Cremation of animals is forbidden in Islam. No one on earth has the right to punish any creature with fire. Even if someone is found guilty of a heinous crime, the Islamic ruler cannot execute him by burning him to death. Because only Allah has the right to punish by burning in fire. This hadith is narrated on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Omar (RA).

Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, ‘A woman was tormented because of a cat. He tied up a cat. In that situation the cat dies. The woman went to hell because of that. Because he didn’t give the cat anything to eat. He did not let go again, so that he could live by eating the insects of the ground.’ (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 3482)

Perhaps keeping such things in mind, the Prophet (PBUH) forbade the Companions to burn those infamous infidels. Man has no right to punish not only man but also an ant by burning him in fire. Once the Prophet (PBUH) saw an ant hill burned by the Companions and said, “Who burned them?” They said, we are.

He said, no one has the right to punish anything with fire except the Lord of Fire. (Abu Dawud: 2675)

From the above discussion it is understood that killing an animal by fire is a heinous crime. Muslims should refrain from such acts. To fear Allah. Because God does not like transgressors.

Rules for cremation of cats in Quran and Hadith

In the hadith, Abu Huraira (RA) said, Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent us on an expedition and said, ‘If you find such and such a person, you will burn them both in the fire.

Then when we wanted to go out, Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) said, ‘No one can punish with fire except Allah. So if you find them both, kill them.’ (Bukhari, Hadith: 3016)

The reason why the Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave them this instruction was that punishment by fire was the act of the apostates. When the apostate Nimrod did not match Ibrahim (A.S.) in any way, he incited his followers to burn Ibrahim (A.S.) in the fire for the sake of their (self-made) masters.

In the Holy Qur’an, it is mentioned about his malice, ‘Burn it and help your gods, if you wish to do anything’. (Surah: Ambiya, verse: 68).

But Almighty Allah made their plan ineffective. And he saved his beloved friend from their burning fire.

In this regard, the Almighty Allah says in the Holy Qur’an, I said, ‘O fire! You become cool and peaceful for Ibrahim. They conspired against him, but I spared them the worst.’

Domestication of cats in Islam

Just as it is legal to love and care for a cat, it is illegal to hurt it. The famous hadith book Bukhari and Muslim have this hadith.

On the authority of Abdullah Ibn Umar (RA), Rasulullah (SAW) said, “A woman will go to hell because of a cat.” Because he tied up the cat. He did not let him eat and did not let him go – so that he could roam the earth and survive by eating insects or anything else.’ (Bukhari, The Beginning of Creation Chapter, Hadith No-3318)

In the light of the above hadith, there are several guidelines regarding the keeping of cats or animals. They are – showing kindness or compassion to animals or any other animal is a good deed.

Rasulullah (s.a.w.) said, ‘Allah has mercy on those who show mercy. Be kind to the inhabitants of the land. Then the One who is in the sky will have mercy on you.’ (Abu Dawud, Hadith No. 4941)

Animals that are kept in captivity for breeding purposes must be the responsibility of the owner.

It is not permissible to tether any animal without providing food. It is forbidden to do any kind of cruelty to animals or any animal. (Qasasul Hadith, Shaykh Dr. Mustafa Murad Azhari, Mufti Abul Wafa Shamsuddin Azhari, Maktabatus Sunnah, Volume : 01, Page : 241)
